WHO IS OFFENDED AT BEING SAVED ETERNALLY?
Our discourse will be from John 6: 25 - 71 but I need to give this background.
I Cor 1: 22-23 TLB
22 IT SEEMS FOOLISH TO THE JEWS BECAUSE THEY WANT A SIGN FROM HEAVEN AS PROOF THAT WHAT IS PREACHED IS TRUE; and it is foolish to the Gentiles because they believe only what agrees with their philosophy and seems wise to them. 23 SO WHEN WE PREACH ABOUT CHRIST DYING TO SAVE THEM, THE JEWS ARE OFFENDED and the Gentiles say it’s all nonsense.
The Jews are The Legalists.
Legalists were never really 'sinners', the Gentiles were the sinners. They were okay keeping the Law. This gospel of Jesus seemed to sympathise too much with the Gentiles. They were offended.
Really, they (Legalists) gave Jesus the most issues. From age Twelve, Jesus had to tackle them till the Cross.
They are giving us the most issues.
They feel 'Grace and Law came through Jesus Christ'. But no. Truth is on the side of Grace, not the Law. Jesus did not bring the Law at all. He fulfilled (satisfied) it. What is left for us is Grace and Grace and Grace and Grace and Grace.
John 1:
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
