1
TO BECOME A SON OF GOD, YOU WERE GIVEN POWER.
John 1:
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
TO LOSE THAT SONSHIP, THAT POWER MUST BE WITHDRAWN.
SO. WHERE DID GOD EVER SAY HE WOULD TAKE THIS POWER AWAY FROM HIS SONS?
2
GRACE AND TRUTH CAME BY JESUS CHRIST.
John 1:
17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
AND JESUS CHRIST WAS FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH
John 1:
14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
WHY WOULD A BELIEVER CHOOSE TO BE FULL OF LAW; OR FULL OF GRACE AND LAW?
3
JESUS CHRIST WAS FULL OF GRACE AND TRUTH
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
AND OF THIS FULLNESS, HE GIVES US GRACE FOR GRACE.
John 1:16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.
SO WHY SHOULD A BELIEVER WORK FOR GRACE INSTEAD OF SIMPLY RECEIVING GRACE FOR GRACE?
4.
WE BECAME SONS OF GOD BY FAITH
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
SINCE FAITH DELIVERS POWER TO BECOME SONS OF GOD, WHY WILL WORKS SUSTAIN OUR SONSHIP?
John 6:29
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent
5.
John 1:45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
HAVE YOU FOUND HIM. OR ARE YOU STILL SEARCHING FOR HIM IN THE LAW AND THE PROPHETS?
6.
John 2:10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
THE LAW WAS SERVED FIRST, THEN GRACE. PLEASE, DO NOT GET DRUNK ON THE LAW. GET FILLED WITH GRACE.
John 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
7.
READ THE PASSAGE BELOW AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS THAT FOLLOW;
John 3:
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Q1: HAS THE SON OF MAN BEEN LIFTED UP?
Q2: DID YOU BELIEVE IN HIM?
Q3: DO YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE?
Q4: HOW DID YOU GET ETERNAL LIFE?
Q5: HOW THEN CAN YOU PERISH?
8.
John 3:
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
CONDEMNED / SAVED
HE THAT BELIEVES NOT / HE THAT BELIEVES IN CHRIST
IN CHRIST
DID YOU BELIEVE IN CHRIST? THEN YOU ARE SAVED. DO NOT LET ANY ONE CONDEMN YOU, PLEASE.
9.
John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.
WHO HAS EVERLASTING LIFE? HE THAT BELIEVES ON THE SON.
WHO HAS THE WRATH OF GOD ABIDING IN HIM? HE THAT BELIEVES NOT THE SON.
NO OTHER YARDSTICK ASIDE FAITH IN CHRIST.
NONE; NO OTHER WORK,
10.
BELIEVING IN CHRIST IS SAME AS REPENTANCE.
BEING SAVED = BELIEVE IN CHRIST = REPENTANCE
REPENTANCE MEANS 'CHANGE YOUR MIND',
THE REPENTANCE THAT SAVES MEANS 'CHANGE YOUR MIND ABOUT CHRIST'.
Matthew 21:32
For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.
Mark 1:15
And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.
Acts 19:4
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
WE LIKE TO SEE REPENTANCE AS 'CHANGE YOUR WAYS'.
BUT THE GOSPEL SAYS 'CHANGE YOUR MIND, BELIEVE CHRIST AND LET HIM CHANGE YOUR WAYS'.
11.
John 4:
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
WHAT THE FATHERS GAVE WAS THE LAW. DRINK THE LAW AND YOU WILL THIRST AGAIN.
WHAT JESUS BRINGS IS THE GOSPEL. BELIEVE THE GOSPEL AND YOU WILL NEVER THIRST AGAIN!
12.
WHO IS THE TRUE WORSHIPPER ?
John 4:
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Philippians 3:3
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
HE WHO HAS NO CONFIDENCE IN THE FLESH; WHO BELIEVES IN WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE, NOT HIS WORKS; HE IS THE TRUE WORSHIPPER.
