SPIRITUAL LEGALITY

The realm of the spirit is highly legalistic.  Many of the terms we are so familiar with in the Church are used in law courts mainly.
Advocate. Adversary. Propitiation. Testimony. Witness. Judge. Avenge. Etc

1Jo 2:1-2
Chapter 2
1 My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins:and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.
(KJV)

The Scripture above is a worthy premise upon which we will build all our points.

Jesus Christ fulfils the role of the Divine Advocate.

Why would the Father need an advocate since He made all things?

1. God is holy. He cannot behold iniquity.

Hab 1:13
13 Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil,
and canst not look on iniquity...

Isa 59:1-3 read vs 4.
Chapter 59
1 Behold, the Lord 's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save;
neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God,
and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
3 For your hands are defiled with blood,
and your fingers with iniquity;
your lips have spoken lies,
your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
(KJV)

2. Man needs an advocate to plead his case. Where can such a man be found?

Ezk 22:30
30 And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it:but I found none.
(KJV)

This scripture underscores the principle of justice every where.

Man could not be his own advocate, all men in Adam were not worthy.

Neither were any of the angels or archangels worthy to plead man's case.

Rev 5:2-4
2 And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3 And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.
4 And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.
(KJV)

No man in heaven , nor anywhere.

Infact, angels are ministering spirits to man so could not plead man's case.

Heb 1:13-14
13 But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool? 14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
(KJV)

3. God Himself found the solution.

Jn 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
(KJV)

Rev 5:5
5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not:behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
(KJV)

Isa 53:10
10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him...

Isa 53:6
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
we have turned every one to his own way;
and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
(KJV)

4. Jesus Christ did the perfect work of advocacy.

Isa 53:4-5
4 Surely he hath borne our griefs,
and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken,
smitten of God, and afflicted.
5 But he was wounded for our transgressions,
he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him;
and with his stripes we are healed.
(KJV)

Jn 19:30
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished:and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
(KJV)

It is finished. Completed. Done. Accomplished. The ministry and mystery of iniquity are ended.

Now that the battle is over...
How do I appropriate the victory?

Now that the case is settled...
How do I live the life?

1. By faith.
The just (a legal term too) shall live by his faith. Hab 2.4

Faith is your stance; the platform upon which you stand. Only by faith can you be justified because through faith you will draw right standing from Christ.

Rom 3:27-28
27 Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay:but by the law of faith. 28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
(KJV)

Rom 1:17
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith:as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
(KJV)

In the arena or court of God, no body can win any case based on the law or the commandments. Only by faith in yhe finished work of Christ does any man stand any chance in that court.

Gal 3:11
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident:for, The just shall live by faith.
(KJV)

There is a law of faith. Faith legislate the realm of the spirit. Faith is the currency of the spirit.

Rom 8:2
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
(KJV)

Gal 2:20
20 I am crucified with Christ:nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me:and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
(KJV)

2. In the Spirit.

Faith connects to you to the Spirit. In the Spirit, we do not operate by sight but by faith.

2Co 5:7
7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
(KJV)

Rom 8:5-9
5 For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. 6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God:for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.
9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
(KJV)

Rom 8:15-16
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:
(KJV)

Rom 8:13-14
13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die:but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. 14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.
(KJV)

3. By the Blood (of Jesus Christ)

The legal realm thrives on evidences. Every case must be proved beyond all reasonable doubts.

Blood is the most potent evidence in the spirit realm. Nothing speaks faster and louder than blood.

Gen 4:10
10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
(KJV)

No blood can supercede the blood of Jesus. No other blood can be as potent. His is the purest blood that can ever be.

Heb 12:24
24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
(KJV)

The angels know how to draw strength from His blood. How much more should we?

Rev 12:11
11 And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
(KJV)

Faith also connects you to the blood.

Rom 3:22-25
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe:for there is no difference:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
(KJV)

4. By the word of God.

Words sell in legal courts. Can you separate lawyers and words? But no word can beat the words of God.

Mat 4:4
4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
(KJV)

Psa 8:2
2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast thou ordained strength
because of thine enemies,
that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
(KJV)

Psa 110:2
2 The Lord shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion:
rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.
(KJV)

Eph 6:17
17 ... and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
(KJV)

Heb 4:12
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
(KJV)

The Word of God created all things. We have that advantage.

Jn 1:1
John
Chapter 1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
(KJV)

Heb 11:3
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
(KJV)

Now faith is built by God's word and prayers.

Rom 10:17
17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
(KJV)

5. By prayers

Prayers is speaking the words and mind of God. Personalising His thoughts about you or ur situation. Prayer gives voice to God's thoughts concerning us.

Zch 12:10
10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem,
the spirit of grace and of supplications:
and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced,
and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son,
and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.
(KJV)

Prayer gives us access to our Advocate. Every accused has a right to a lawyer. Thats what prayer affords us.

2Ch 6:39
39 Then hear thou from the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, their prayer and their supplications, and maintain their cause, and forgive thy people which have sinned against thee.
(KJV)

Isa 1:18
18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:
though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow;
though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.
(KJV)

Luk 18:1-3
Chapter 18
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; 2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
(KJV)

2Ch 6:21
21 Hearken therefore unto the supplications of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, which they shall make toward this place:hear thou from thy dwelling place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest, forgive.
(KJV)

Psa 31:22
22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes:
nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
(KJV)

Psa 86:6-8
6 Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer;
and attend to the voice of my supplications.
7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee:
for thou wilt answer me.
8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord;
neither are there any works like unto thy works.
(KJV)

Psa 130:2
2 Lord, hear my voice:
let thine ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications.
(KJV)

Jer 31:9
9 They shall come with weeping,
and with supplications will I lead them:
I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters
in a straight way, wherein they shall not stumble:
for I am a father to Israel,
and Ephraim is my firstborn.
(KJV)

Dan 9:18
18 O my God, incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy name:for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great mercies.
(KJV)

Dan 9:23
23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved:therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
(KJV)

(KJV)

1Ti 2:1
Chapter 2
1 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;
(KJV)

Heb 5:7
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
(KJV)

Jesus Christ gives man the right standing in a very legalistic realm of spirits where we are forced to play.

Take advantage of this eternal victory today.

God bless you.
